I went into this expecting a romance novel, but instead received a romance-based narrative. sigh.
Holland and Calvin's romantic connection might have really elevated the plot and sold it better, in my opinion. It would have also made me a little happier. I needed that extra oomph to turn my attention/distract me because, as someone who has lived overseas and has acquaintances who have married spouses of different countries, I know how implausible the narrative is.
Regardless, I thought the writing and tempo were adequate. I really appreciated the investigation of broadway and music creation, which was perhaps my favorite part.
I thought this was one of Christina Lauren's best looks.

This is a story you savor, one you think about when you set the
book down and continue to think about once you've finished it.
highly recommend roomies, it's a perfect book to curl up with.
"I think you might be the best girl there ever was.
'I think you're the best boy there ever was, too.
