I will admit that romance novels aren't really my cup of tea. I much prefer dark roast coffee, black with no sugar (read: the disturbing psychological thriller).
By the time I finished reading the excerpt, I had forgotten what the book was supposed to be about. I feel like the author's attempt at character development is ultimately going to drag out this story with unnecessary verbiage.
