Wow! This looks like a fascinating tribute to the early days of our favorite superhero comic books. I've always been curious as to how the various superheroes were created and developed, how they were received by the fans, which heroes attracted the largest sales and how fan reaction contributed to changes in the plot lines and to the title characters themselves. I also wonder how various interpretations, whether it be in the movies or on radio or TV, required the comics to speed up or hold back depending on public reaction. I am fascinated by the distinctive approach to DC vs. Marvel characters and how both publishers were able to maintain that distinction in the subsequent competitive years. It looks like the narrative also covers major "firsts" in the various stories. I am also excited by the full color reproductions of many of the early covers in the various series, some I have never seen reproduced before. The quality of the color is appealing. The color cover is impressive, though it does seem to bunch a number of characters together--but you really can't have any one character engaged in flying fisticuffs without shortchanging the great list of heroes that the book wants to cover!
