The one word that kept coming into my mind as I read this book was weird. The whole premise is a little strange from the beginning, including the protagonist catching a priest in a sexual act and that man then deciding he wants to become a sort of sex teacher for this young man. The dialogue is very stilted and does not seem authentic or realistic at all. The narration is bothersome. It seems more like being lectured to than reading a story. This just did not seem like a very polished, professional novel to me. It read more like something you would expect from a student. Even an event that should have been exciting and interesting- the disappearance of one of the main characters- was instead extremely boring. I was not interested in any of the characters or in what happened to any of them. In short, I cannot recommend this book. I struggled to get through it.
