Redemption Point by Candice Fox is the second book in the Crimson Lake series. This is a very dark story which is not usually my type of book, but I felt compassion for Ted Conkaffey, an innocent former police officer falsely accused of raping and abducting a young girl, Claire Bingley. He has been released from prison, but he has lost everything, family, friends, his job. He is living a lonely, isolated life in Crimson Lake. He may be innocent, but his innocence is not believed by the general public, especially the victim’s father, Dale Bingley, and he is looking for revenge. Unless he solves who committed the crimes against young Claire, he will become a casualty of Dale’s rage. Ted has partnered with Amanda Pharrell, a convicted murderer who killed in self-defense, to help Detective Inspector Pip Sweeney solve her first homicide case of two bartenders found dead in the Barking Frog Inn Bar. It is brutal and violent story, but the writer draws the reader in with her excellent story-telling and her interesting character development. I surprised myself with this one. I thought it was a well-done mystery, but be warned, it is creepy, disturbing, and unsettling at times.
