Sucked in from the first sentence
I've read three other Fox books - and loved them all - but I haven't made it to this series yet. The cover draws the eye with the large, bold, red text and the silhouette of a person moving away (someone we know we'll be searching for). And the first sentence is a real hook: There were predators beyond the wire. It brings to mind barbarism and blood, maybe a hint of fear.
My takeaway from this first look: Fox can write a monster in human skin. And she can make a reader nervous.
