At first I felt as if the story was going to drag. I mean, who's interested in a man living alone in the back side of nowhere near crocodiles and a swampy area with only geese for companions? But then, in a heartbeat, the excitement elevates to over-the-top, and you're hanging on the edge of your seat, praying that not only does the man in the house live, but that his geese also live!
From that point forward, you're hooked and wanting to know what's next in store for this man wrongfully accused of a heinous crime, one which almost everyone still believes is guilty. Within pages you learn he's a former police detective who's already served time in prison for his crime and has been released only as new or conflicting information has become available, and neither his past as a police officer nor the reason for his release sits well with the general public.
Candace Fox's second book in this series is off to a great start, and I would eagerly pursue it through till the end!
