Billed as the Hate U Give meets One of Us is Lying – I knew I had to give this one a go! I think that is a good representation / mashup mix of the story and book presented here. We have the mystery thriller and social justice aspects equally represented. This is a fast paced YA mystery regarding the murder of a high school principle. Three students are the main suspects. I live right next door to an urban all boys high school and I felt like this could have been any one of their lives. The story is told through multiple points of view and media clippings throughout, which is a new format for me that I really enjoyed! Through so many different lenses we truly understand the dangers of labeling or judging others without having the full picture of their lives. The school sounds like a prison for a reason. Everything is so well written and thought out.
