Many things to explore

I haven't read either of the books that Promise Boys is supposed to be like, but I know the topics The Hate U Give addresses and I can see a lot of possible commentaries Brooks may provide, and I'd love to see how that's explored in a murder mystery.

I'm not a big fan of all the perspectives because I would've liked to get a feel for the school through the three boys, but they still get the job done. And I like how these povs give us some hints as to what the school is like from the inside and outside because it's doing a bunch of things at once, like describing what the school's like (of course), how people view the school and the students, how biases are coloring everyone's opinions about the boys (the tutor and Dean for example), and introducing topics Brooks might explore, so I still appreciate the multiple perspectives.

I'm invested in what Brooks has to say about institutions like Promise Prep that are supposed to help kids like J.B, Trey, and Ramón but still fail them. The cover is eye-catching and very nice, but it would've been cool to get a distinct drawing of all three boys.
