This first look starts off with a bang. The 'breaking news' that a DC principal was shot and killed on school campus got me hooked immediately. Having worked in north east DC in the past, I recognized names like Anacostia and some references made by the characters, which made me feel connected to this first look. I appreciated the different perspectives about the murder of Principal Moore and how there is a wide variety of characters, from a privileged girl who tutors at the school, to the school's dean, to a neighborhood hustler, and the school's SRO. I also appreciated the variety in the writing style. You get various POVs at the beginning and then JB's interrogation transcript. This first look was so interesting and I would love to read more!
