This book really hit home for me - I could relate to so much of it. I grew up in Asia and then moved here to the States, so I'm familiar with a lot of the intricacies in this book. I also just spent the summer in San Francisco and was also surprised by how Asian NoCal is, especially SF! This book had so much depth to it underneath, and it was something I really needed to read. The characters were all so real to me, and I empathized so much with them. I loved reading about the family dynamic of the Chengs, and Kelly's writing is amazing. I think it's amazing that there are more POC books like this finding their way to the world, and I really appreciate Kelly Gilbert for sharing this story with us.
