This first look was very thought provoking. The joy Danny feels at moments in his family life is in stark contrast to the pressure he experiences as a second generation immigrant. At times I so enjoyed his happiness and joy only to feel such not quite anger but maybe sadness & disappointment in his parents. The expectations first generation immigrants put on their children to succeed or excel seems so immense. I would wish for the children to have more joy in their childhood and not quite so many restrictions or restraints put on them as teens when they should (in my opinion) being trying to spread their wings. Growing up is hard work and this first look reminded me of that and hopefully the novel will show Danny succeeding.
