This book was quite profound. While you have your main character return to the Philippines to try and understand what happened to his cousin, so many secrets and truths are revealed. It also casts light on the many troubles facing different people, including those of identity, family, love, and societal issues, such as the war on drugs and corrupt governments. We also have a diverse set of characters, who are all relatable in some ways. My heart was torn in so many directions that you feel for these characters and their stories, and nothing is as it first appears to be. You continually hope that there will be happiness for these characters and are satisfied when a catharsis arrives by the end of the story. I would like to see more with this story. Sequel?
