Just by reading that small sample I know I'm going to have go into this story with a heavy heart. I usually stray away from books with such heavy subject matter. But something about the layers of family and honor really struck me. My cousin was murder because of gang life so the subject hits close to home. I read enough I want to go on this journey with the characters, no matter how painful and dangerous.
