Reminds Me of Darius the Great is Not Okay

I am immediately reminded of the other wonderful novel I was lucky enough to read via BookishFirst called Darius the Great is Not Okay, a young adult novel where Darius, an American, went back to his homeland of Iran and found out so much about his family and culture that he had no idea about. Patron Saints of Nothing is giving me similar vibes, with Jay Reguero, also an American, going back to his ancestral home of the Philippines to uncover truths about his culture and his family. This is definitely one I'd like to get my hands on, because I truly enjoyed Darius's story and think this is one I'd love as well.
