Pages in and I already love this book.

Very immediate and relevant in the here and now. The main character's thoughts are very poignant and realistic. As someone with a similar multicultural background, things he's told/hears about his identity are so eerily similar to my own experiences. The mentioning of Duterte is so important and as many people as possible should learn about what's happened/what's going on. This book seems heavy but very direct and approachable. Shocked to find it, and grateful to BookishFirst for featuring it since I'd seen the cover around but wasn't paying attention. This is an immediate TBR-worthy title. Only thing I'd change is to make the beginning explain or introduce the characters more clearly.
