What an appropriate title. This is a memoir of a Jewish woman and her family leaving Germany and finally arriving in America. She takes us with her on her journey. It is a real story of how life was living through war torn Italy facing anti sematic laws. How this affected her family and herself. She ran a pensione in Italy and met many guests. Some were friendly and some not. She and her family particularly connected with one odd couple. This couple visited many times at the pensione. She ran into them throughout her trek to America. They became an important part of her and her family's life. I cannot make up my mind if Iiked the book and found it boring. I had mixed emotions while reading it.
