I received a free copy of One More Moon by Ralph Webster from BookishFirst in exchange for my review.

One More Moon is 98-year-old Elsa's memoir of her family's life in Naples Italy. Now in a nursing home, she grew up in a close Jewish family in Germany and moved to Naples after meeting her future husband there while visiting relatives. She grew to love her life raising her family in Naples but grew increasingly concerned about the changes she saw with Mussolini's rise to power. She and her husband bought a pensione and through their guests they experienced the encroaching war and its tragedies, and their struggles to escape.

The author's story-telling and attention to detail is amazing. Through the details of Elsa's day-to-day life as an innkeeper, and the ever-nearing war, I understood the constant fear they must have felt during those years. and what they had to go through to survive. Highly recommended reading.
