This is a very well written book. I feel a great deal of empathy with that woman and her family. I would have loved to her have career. Such fun! I also discovered myself later in life (in my 50's I became a nurse). Like her I talk to myself! She seems to have started this later in life. But I think I have always done it, so I wonder if she did too.

She lived through horrific times and emerged as a stalwart woman. What's not to love?
She loved and was faithful to her husband through tough times. She raised a good family.
Although thewriter is male. He does a marvelous job of writing from the female point of view.
