An incredible Italian story!
I loved this book. It has great characters that are fully fleshed out, a great setting that is easily visualized, and a captivating ending.
At first, I did not like the writing style. It was a little too sparse for me. Reminiscent of Hemmingway. But over time it grew on me and it works well for the story overall.
I appreciate that these events and characters are based on real-life ones. That true adds to the emotional impact of the story overall.
And of course, as an Italian myself, I have a special appreciation for the story and what these people went through. And our shared history as a whole.
I'll definitely recommend this for both of my libraries and to my family members. There is a lot to love in this book. I'm looking forward to more from this author.
