I was so excited to read One Day You'll Burn. The first few chapters drew me in and held my attention; however, around page 100 or so, I grew bored with the story. Tully's character has been written so many times before: smart but scattered, single, a bit aloof, etc etc. I did find Tully's parental unit interesting. An openly gay and Middle Eastern father, definitely wasn't expecting that.
Alena, a victim of the Dog Catcher, seemed way out of Tully's league. Recently separated, beautiful home, attractive, and employed in a unique career...I don't know if a couple like this would be a successful match in real life.
I will say that the golden bull was definitely a surprise, as was the perpetrator of the crimes. Certainly not who I was expecting.

Overall, the book was decent. Not a read for book clubs, but definitely a solid story for a flight, or to pass the time on vacation.
