Tully is a late comer to the LAPD. His previous profession in acadamia was not fulfilling him so he left and joined the police force, much to his parents’ dismay and disappointment. He quickly rises through the ranks and makes Homicide Detective in record time. His first big case as lead detective proves challenging to solve. He is fighting an uphill battle and has to prove himself to his peers and his bosses. He must try to solve a grisly murder of a body so badly burned that at first sight, it appears to be a movie prop. He uses his knowledge and instincts to weave his way through what little evidence is found.
Tully is an endearing character. He has insecurities and doubts despite his extreme intelligence and tries to work past that. I really enjoyed getting to know this character and reading this book. I could literally write so much more about this story but I will refrain from giving too much away! I hope to read more from this author soon!
