I think a lot of these elements were really well done. I like that there were 2 cases happening, adding depth to the story. The descriptions were good, and the climax was suspenseful and surprising. It did follow pretty standard detective style plot threads, but did treat them with new and inventive ways. One of the issues with the story was that some of the clues that were given fit together in a pretty obvious way to me, so it felt weird that I could see it so clearly but the characters couldn't. As well, one of the most noticable aspect of this book was how coincidental everything was. It didn't feel like great detective work because the only reason our detective stumbled across the killer was through things happening in his personal life. That always feels unrealistic and takes me out of the story. But if that's not likely to bother you, this is a great detective story!
