I really liked this book because I Live in the Los Angeles area and so was knowledgeable about the location of this book and the different areas. This book starts out when the police are called to the scene of a murder and Det. Tully Jarsdel and his partner Morales, go to the scene.
The body is found in a part of the city and where the body is laying seems ritualistic to Tully. Morales wants Tully to take the lead with this investigation. These two partners are different as day and night, which makes for an interesting aspect of the book. They are very relatable and yet so different in character. Their beat is Hollywood which makes it even better. There is two different cases that they are investigating, the first the victim they find is baked to death! The other case is a man who kills couple's dogs while they are off getting married.
I liked this book because there was never a dull moment and it kept my interest, and I hated to put it down. There is a lot of angst between the detectives, and Tully is very intelligent and so knows things that most people would overlook at the scenes.
I gave this book 5 stars and hope to read more by this author!
