A literally "cooked" body dumped on the streets of LA in front of a statue of a Thai Brahman deity. Most wouldn't give the location of the body dump a second thought, but Detective Jarsdal thinks it completely intentional and relevant to the murder. While I love a good mystery, and am intrigued by the link of leaving the victim in front of a shrine being connected to the motive, overall the descriptions of the violence done to the victim and the rest of the book summary provided makes this book seem just too dark and gruesome for me.
