Just like a classic Law & Order episode, the story begins indirectly as the reader follows a starving coyote discovering a cooked corpse in the wilds of Los Angeles. Only then are we introduced to the detectives who will solve the mystery of this dead body. This is a gripping introduction to what sounds like a powerful story.
