A police procedural with a particularly gruesome murder at its core— a man cooked to death and then dumped on a sidewalk. The details of the body were rendered in minute detail. The cop that is assigned to lead the investigation is an outsider— this is his second career— and he doesn’t get along with his partner either. The writing was easy reading and I was intrigued by the set up.
