One Day You'll Burn had me hooked before I finished the first page. There is an energy in the writing that kept me excited to read more. It begins with the discovery of a body and not long after we meet our detective. He is a newby nicknamed "the professor" by his coworkers. He seems to be a normal, slightly nervous man trying to do a good job without any of the social disorders or superhero talents seen so often in detective books or shows. While I loved the book section I read, the book might not be for everyone. Descriptions of the victim are graphic and could be disturbing. Graphic doesn't bother me so I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through and can't wait to see what the rest of the book has in store.
