That’s my first impression. The author makes sure the reader completely understands the condition of the corpse through a scavengering coyote finding himself a charbroiled meal. Is the method symbolic of something or just what was available? That is what former “professor” and current detective Jarsdel gets to figure out. I’m equally interested in finding out the impetus behind his career change. So far, the introduction has offered the reader an engaging look at what appears to be a very tight, well written story!
