Convincingly written, seems like good crime fiction.

I don't get a strong thriller vibe from this yet, unfortunately, but the writing style is sleek and undeniably focused on realism. The conversations between characters seem believable. The balance between description and plot development seems good. Some of the descriptions of the crime scene are gory, but that's to be expected from the blurb summary. It wasn't too gratuitous. Honestly, a chapter was not enough to make a full assessment of whether this is worth reading or not but it seems decent and up to expectations. Just not an outstanding piece of literature that would win over non-fans of crime-driven fiction. The cover is a bit too bright and beach-y considering the subject matter and tone of the text within.
