Kind of Amateur Writing

Conceptually I really liked Olive Bright the Pigeoneer, but the writing did feel a bit immature or amateur. There was some really cool ideas and I loved exploring and learning about a new side to the war that I had previously never heard of but I would have loved for there to be more depth or emotion to the story. Olive was quite the character and you have to admire her indominable spirit and go getter attitude especially in the face of danger and gender discrimination she never let anything hold her back from her goals. The mystery part was pretty interesting and very much felt like something you would see on British TV as a cozy miniseries, something akin to Phryne Fisher but cleaner. I could definitely see this book being popular with an older crowd or the Middle School crowd. For me it wasn't bad it just wasn't as poignant as I was hoping it would be.
