Olive Bright Pigeoneer tells a story about an aspect of the war that is very unknown, pigeons carrying messages. Pretty unique concept, right? When unlikely strangers from a military intelligence organization come to her town everything changes. Furthermore, there’s a murder being investigated. Olive can’t seem to stay away from the drama and hype of it all.
I had really high hopes for this one, and was intrigued by the idea if the National Pigeon Service and the role that birds played! Unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. It was a hard story to get into. I wanted more about the history of raising the pigeons, what they did and what the National Pigeon Service’s job was rather than finding out about the murder. That’s not to say at all that it wasn’t a book I enjoyed, I just expected something different. I really enjoyed the writing though and think Olive’s character was very well developed!
