This was a cute, cozy mystery that, while not what I was necessarily expecting, was enjoyable nonetheless. I tend to like grittier, tense historical fiction that I can’t help but devour. This was more of an easy and enjoyable story with plucky characters getting into scrappy situations. It was a slow burn that I could pick up and enjoy for an hour or so and then put down, knowing I would enjoy it again next time I picked it up.

I particularly enjoyed getting a look into a close knit, small English village and the secrets the inhabitants try to hide from each other. I thought it was a good choice to start the story as if the reader was being dropped into the middle of this life and getting just a peak into all it has to offer. This leaves it open to prequels and sequels if the author chooses to continue with these characters.

Olive Bright, Pigeoneer is a must read for those that enjoy cozy mysteries and plucky characters!
