Pigeons for the war effort?

Seems like an interesting start to a new book. Olive sends off one of her racing pigeons with her best friend as he ships out to finish training.
She is worried about his safety as well as her brother.

Quite a bit of characters introduced in this short time frame. It has lots of description in every paragraph so I’m not sure if that will continue.
