Olive Bright is a pigeoneer in England during WWII. She sends her friend George off to war with one of her prized pigeons, Mary Poppins. Arriving home, she and a tenant, Jonathan, set out and overhear a menacing conversation. They speculate about who and why someone is talking that way.
This novel is about quirky characters. Olive reminds me of Flavia de Luce in the Alan Bradley novels, although Olive is older than Flavia. Yet, it is the same timeframe and setting.
The characters seem to be intriguing, and I think they will take the reader on an interesting ride.
