This book had the deck stacked against it as soon as I saw that it was a WWII book (I've really had enough already) but I figured I'd give it a chance. Unfortunately, this author is a fan of doing something that I struggle to appreciate: introducing characters without identifying who they are. I don't want to read the whole conversation without knowing who this guy is the main character is talking to, or who the main character is. I understand that the point is to figure it out from the context, but I never really did.
