I don't read a ton of historical fiction but this book was really interesting immediately. The main character, Olive, is independent and unique and I loved her right away. The World War 2 setting can be really emotional in general but this excerpt does a good job in focusing on the characters and small town. I can't wait to hear more about Olive and her pigeons!
