I thought this first look was okay. I'll be honest, it didn't make me say to myself I need to rush out and buy this the second it comes out, but I could see myself checking it out from the library one day. I like historical fiction, and I found the characters to be charming, and I personally haven't read a WWII book involving pigeons (although at least one other title does actually come to mind) so I think it would be an interesting read. I thought the pacing was a little bit slow for my taste, but otherwise I generally thought the writing was fine.
