What a cute and sweet YA romance! Forest did such a good job at writing a well-paced and engaging storyline. If I didn’t get sick halfway through it I probably could have read it in a day.

Synopsis: After being the center of a Hollywood scandal caused by her best friend, Evie Jones, hopes to move past it through the help of her mega-famous grandma, Evelyn Conway. Her grandma is to receive a major award at a ceremony in NYC and Evie is to present it to her. The problem: her grandma doesn’t want to accept it and disappears out of the blue, days before the ceremony. Hoping to trace her grandma’s steps and find her, Evie sets out into the city with a cute musician and friend of her grandmother’s, Milo Williams. She encounters many of her grandmother’s old friends and makes some surprising discoveries along the way.

This story really touches on a lot of important themes. Evie really has some major character development throughout the novel. After developing a major mistrust of people due to her best friend’s betrayal, bringing someone new into her life seems like an unnecessary danger. Then also having to deal with the backlash from Hollywood and how that affects her insecurities is something any young teen, even adults, can relate to. Learning to value what really matters and realizing that people can make mistakes and people can also learn to forgive is really difficult.

I’m also such a sucker for whirlwind city romances, and mix in a little mystery, well I’m all yours. It definitely still felt unique to other YA romances I’ve read and I highly recommend this one. It was very entertaining and I hope you gobble up this gem as I did.
