For most of the book I got what I was suspecting. Drusilla has been secretly in love with her best friends brother. She doesn’t make this known because of her beliefs that women should have rights and remain unmarried. She also never makes it known because she believes Gabriel despises her, and he thinks the same of her. But then Drusilla Clare and Gabriel Marlington were forced into a marriage because some rule or social expectation of the time period. I like that it doesn’t take long for this to happen in the book. You aren’t left waiting with needless details. This situation adds tension between the characters with their already teasing relationship.

From the very beginning I loved the way the characters interacted. All characters including the main character are fast tonged and witty. I love the bickering between them. There is constant twist and turns in their marriage. They are constantly miss understand actions the others take. Even though the actions are innocent it looks to the other that they are not trying in their marriage. And you can see how this would add even more tension. You are on the edge of her seat reading this book. Even though I did enjoy this book, it was repetitive. Not a lot happened through the book. It was mainly them trying to work with this forced marriage. The end is when the action happened and truly my favorite part of the book. The end took this book into a completely different genre. The twist it took was very unexpected and turned into a type of novel I would really enjoy. I think I would enjoy the second book more than the first.

This book it definitely a heated romance and I recommend it for 18+.
