Historical fiction is my go to. Usually, I get sucked right in and gobble up the pages. This book was not that way for me. I felt the writing style was hard to get into. I realize it was set long ago, but there were too many old phrases that made it difficult to read quickly. I enjoy being able to speed read and I couldn’t do that with this book.
I do, however, think there is some promise for this to turn into more of a romance. If that’s the case, it may improve as we go.
