Too "period piece" for me, but undoubtedly well done

I don't like period pieces, so this one didn't grab my attention. I read through it out of obligation, and found the First Look too long. The author did a great job of using time-appropriate dialogue and descriptions, but this one didn't interest me. I think the cover is pretty, but the font doesn't catch the eye. The description was more interesting to me than the First Look.
