I don't love historical romance (it's my least favorite sub-genre, probably), but this was diverting enough, and the characters seemed fairly well-developed even this early on. I found the somewhat more modern sensibility of Eva (and, to a lesser extent, Dru) refreshing, and the overall plot sounds like a fun play on more traditional historical/patriarchal tropes.
