I listened to this audiobook with my girls aged 8 and 10. We all loved this book! It's a cross between a retelling and an original. I could relate so much to Filomena going to the bookstore on release day to get the last book in the series that she's been looking forward to for a year...only to find out that it's not going to be released, and that there may have never been a book to release in the first place. Then to find out that all the books she's loved for years are real, that she is a big part of them and that the books change and need to be figured out was such a fun twist.
There was adventure, humor, and I loved the relationship Filomena has with her adoptive parents. The story of how they found her, how they've been watching out for her, and their decision to let her go and follow her destiny is so amazing. There aren't many parents that would let their young daughter find her way to another world to fight for her identity. We can't wait for the next one to come out!
