It was a tad bland
I've always loved the synopsis shown for De La Cruz's books, and they seem interesting and intriguing, but they always seem to be a letdown.
I love the idea of her stories, her Descendants books, the Hamilton series, and most recently the Queen's Assassin series.
Personally, I think the reason why I'm not a big fan of her books is because of the way they're written. De La Cruz's books seem to have a Middle-Grade book level vibe to them and it really devalues the idea of the book.
Lastly, the book cover does not give a lot to what the book is about. With a cover like this, it doesn't truly show you what the book is about, it could be about a more fairy-tale story instead of a current-day character relating back to fairytale times.
Overall, I don't know if I'll continue reading De La Cruz's books if they continue to let me down after looking forward to them.
