I love the fairytale style of the introduction. It really sweeps you up and reels you in. I think the third person narration adds to that effect as well. The writing is so descriptive that it really makes you feel like you're on Filomena's journey with her. On that point, Filomena is very likeable in the sense that its easy to see yourself in her even if you're not the target audience of this middle grade novel. We've all been where she is. Every reader, no matter their age, has once wished that their favorite story was real, that they would receive their hogwarts acceptance letter, walk through a wardrobe to narnia, or discover a power they never knew they had. This story does just that and it makes the book almost nostalgic. It's a wonderful escape from the monotony of every day life and although I am only partially through I can't wait to keep reading.
