At first glance, I thought, "Oh, no - a retelling of a tale we've heard over and over again." But, after reading more my thoughts turned from "oh, no" to "ah, this has potential." And that was just the prologue, again this had me sitting up and paying closer attention.
What did the new baby's aunt whisper in her ear? What happened to the newborn's mom? Why remarry in such a hurry and to a woman who seems like she may not be the wisest choice.
Chapter one appears and we are suddenly, swiftly brought into the life of another character, or as I suspect, the life of the magical baby who lives in the world of humans? Why was she adopted? Or, is this not the baby but the person who is going to save the baby? Is the author of the beloved series dead or is she the aunt or even the baby who needs rescuing?
