A mom has a genetic disorder that has caused her son to die at a young age. She decides to use a donor egg (along with her own - don’t ask, this is fiction, okaaayy?) in order to make a “perfect” child. She wants to make sure her daughter doesn’t get the mitochondrial gene that caused her son’s death, including going “rogue” by asking a doctor for help. Her husband is an ethics professor and doesn’t want to even consider this option. Lots of ethic questions and a bit of a mystery, including some real conversation about women in science not getting recognition they deserve. A really enjoyable book that I devoured on a Saturday afternoon!
I also really like the clean looking cover. It’s eye catching!
