Wow I was gripped right away! It's very unusual for an author to put the reader into high intensity with such little build up so early on. We start off knowing something is strange about this family, they are laden with secrets and hiding out or running away from someone. She dropped just enough information to make you need more. I found myself anticipating any small bit of information I could get. When she shifted gears to Abby's point of view I appreciated the stark juxtaposition from knowledge and danger to youth, ignorance and naivete. Like a scary movie I can already hear myself screaming at Abby, don't go there! I have to keep reading...
