I love a story that kicks off right away- in this one you know SOMETHING is up with this family, specifically with Claire, and that there is something here that is not right. But the author has held enough back that it's unclear what exactly is going on, and I'VE GOT TO KNOW. A perfect way to give us a taste and a tease, but make sure we're going to keep reading.
